When you picture volunteering, your mind might jump to traditional tasks: serving meals, planting trees, or running a weekend sausage sizzle. While those roles remain vital to our region, you possess another powerful asset that can change a local life — your career experience, industry knowledge, and personal story.
Think back to your own career journey. Chances are, it wasn’t a straight line. Somewhere along the way, someone took a moment to answer your questions, open a door, or help you see possibilities you hadn’t considered.
You now have the opportunity to be that person for someone else in our community.
Through Fraser Coast Future Finders, an initiative by Hervey Bay Neighbourhood Centre (HBNC), you can give back in a way that directly shapes our region’s future.
Future Finders offers a flexible, low-barrier way for local professionals, managers, and business owners to volunteer. Instead of committing to long-term formal placements, you can offer bite-sized, high-impact experiences, whether that means hosting a brief site visit, offering a short workplace snapshot, or sitting down for an informal conversation about your industry.
For a local jobseeker, seeing your workplace in action can demystify an entire industry, build crucial self-belief, and turn uncertainty into clear ambition. For you and your business, it’s a chance to discover motivated talent early, showcase diverse local career pathways, and play an active role in keeping our best skills, energy, and brightest minds right here on the Fraser Coast. Every local path that starts with your guidance helps build a stronger, more resilient local economy.
Volunteering isn’t just about hands-on labor, it’s about using your voice and experience to build a thriving, connected community where everyone has a place to grow.
By opening your doors or simply sharing your story, you could be the spark that changes the trajectory of someone’s life.
