Looking out the window of your Airbnb, you’re greeted by the glowing blues of the Pacific Ocean before an unexpected sight catches your eye. A colourful paraglider is gracefully soaring through the sky, seemingly only metres from your balcony. With a grazing board of cheeses and dips prepared and a cheeky afternoon cocktail in hand, there’s nothing left to do but settle into the comfortable couch by the window and lose yourself in the moment.
If you are lucky enough to find accommodation with a rooftop terrace, you’ll capture panoramic views of the township with Glasshouse Mountains on the horizon and may even spot humpback whales making their annual migration along the coastline during whale season.
Kings Beach is an oceanside hub between Caloundra and Moffat Beach on the Sunshine Coast. The entry welcomes you with expansive grasslands staged in front of an amphitheatre with memories of the Caloundra Music Festival. The path guides you to the glistening shorelines where you will find bustling small businesses, cafes, playgrounds, a splash park and trendy beach vibes.
Heading down past the surf club, a seaside swimming pool allows you to swim laps with breathtaking views and drying off to the ocean breeze. The pathways in either direction from this point take you along a coastal adventure. Take a stroll to the south of Kings Beach to one of the local beachfront bars for your first refreshment before venturing across boardwalks and parklands toward Caloundra. Wander into the Drift Bar, where you will often find local musicians setting the stage. The vibe is hip, and craft beer flows under the ambience of whitewashed furniture. Settle in for a memorable dinner under a warm glow of fairy lights.
In the morning, throw on your exercise clothes and follow the sound of the crashing waves up the North Coast, where you’ll soak up the morning sun while greeting local joggers, families with prams, and cyclists. Follow the path that takes you through one suburb to the next until you reach a scenic haven of luxury homes overlooking headlands of surfers on glassy waters.
Kings Beach is just over two hours driving distance from the Fraser Coast, and this welcoming beachside community makes it easy to feel less like a visitor and more like a local.
