Men’s Walk and Talk Hervey Bay is a free community group that encourages men to improve their physical and mental wellbeing through walking, conversation, and connection.
We meet twice each week on the beachside deck of the Hervey Bay Surf Life Saving Club in Torquay. Our Tuesday afternoon walk departs at 5:15 pm, and our Thursday morning walk departs at 6 am. Participants are encouraged to arrive 10 minutes early to meet, welcome one another, and enjoy a chat before setting off.
Our walks are open to adult men from all backgrounds who are comfortable walking for approximately one hour. There is no pressure to walk at a particular pace or discuss anything you don’t want to. Some men join for the exercise, some for the social connection, and others simply to spend time with like-minded people in a supportive environment.
Regular walking is one of the simplest and most effective forms of exercise. It can improve cardiovascular health, increase fitness, reduce stress, and contribute to overall well-being. Equally important are the benefits of social connection.
Many men experience periods of loneliness, isolation, or personal challenges, yet often find it difficult to reach out for support. Walking side by side creates a relaxed setting where conversations develop naturally and friendships form.
While we’re not a counselling service, we provide an opportunity for men to connect, share experiences, and support one another. We believe that strong communities are built through genuine relationships and that sometimes a simple conversation can make a significant difference in someone’s life.
At Men’s Walk and Talk Hervey Bay, we are promoting more than exercise. We are fostering connection, belonging, and better health for men throughout our community. If you’ve been looking for a reason to get active, enjoy the outdoors, and meet new people, we’d love to welcome you on one of our walks.
