As those who know me can confirm, I’ve always been a sceptic when it comes to believing something that sounds a bit incredulous. That might surprise you, given my firm belief in life after death and the continuance of our existence in the spirit world. However, beneath my conviction about what is true for me, I’m healthily hesitant to believe everything I’m told.

So…. It might surprise you again to learn that I do believe in astral travelling. That’s because I’ve done it, many times and in different scenarios. I don’t pretend to understand it, but when I become awake in a dream, I’m able to direct some aspect of my consciousness into completely new places, dimensions and times.

Astral travel occurs when an aspect of our consciousness or spiritual self leaves our body and travels in the astral planes, which comprise different levels and dimensions. For me to astral travel my body needs to remain asleep while my mind wakes up. In this state I can make choices with my mind without disturbing my body. To check that I am mentally awake, (or lucid dreaming), I lift my hands within my dream and look at them closely. If I can do that, I am ready to separate from my bod, and the exploration begins.

I’ve had some wonderful experiences in my astral travels. I’ve observed (or found) myself in at least eight other lives – some past and some, perhaps, in the future. In two experiences I have been on a boat as it is sinking, and I was rescued only once. I’ve seen cities that speak languages I’ve never heard before and been puzzled by symbols I’ve never encountered. I’ve visited the spirit world and met loved ones who I miss very much, and the whole time I know my body is asleep and that I am awake in a different level of consciousness.

I must add a word of warning here. Astral travelling can take you to places where you may not be safe. In the past, I’ve met some dishonest entities that tried to become my companions and arrived in places where the environment was unfriendly. I guess I’ve come to believe that if we explore too far out of ‘our lane’ in the universe we might end up out of our depth. I wish I understood it better, but I don’t.

However, I do understand this…Always undertake astral travel with a prayer of protection and request guidance from your spiritual guides. Ask to be shown things which are for your highest good, such as a relevant past life that can help you in this life. More than once, I have mentally screamed, “Wake up Michelle! Wake up!!” because I was in a situation I should not have been in.
Undertaken safely, astral travel is exhilarating and enriching. Be clear about what you want and why, Request to be protected in your dream, before you begin. That’s another sign you are lucid dreaming.
It usually ends for me because my husband rolls over or makes a sound, and the spell of whatever state I’m in is broken. I have found that the early hours of the morning seem to work best, though I expect it may differ for everyone.

I hope you’ve enjoyed this unusual topic as we draw closer to December.
