Owner, Michelle’s Cutting Edge

Have you faced any barriers in your career due to being a woman? If so, how did you overcome them?
I have been very fortunate to be surrounded by people that have always encouraged and inspired me to live my best life. My partner(husband) is my biggest fan. He has always said “Well, just do it! You get stuff done, so why not this? ”

My Grandmothers, Mum, Aunts, and extended family have always supported women in our family. The only barriers that I have ever faced is my own self-doubt. But the village of strong women around me have always pushed me to achieve my goals.

How can we encourage more women to pursue entrepreneurship or senior leadership roles in their careers?
Be their biggest supporters! Lead by example and tell our daughters, nieces and all their friends how awesome they are. Ask “How can I help you achieve your dreams”.

Take them to any and every event around their interest and inspire them to reach for the top. Introduce them to your tribe as soon as you can. The people that support you, support your young entrepreneurs. Motivated people, motivate others.

What is the most important message you want to send out to young women thinking about their careers?
You have your whole life ahead to “grow up”. Age is just a number. You can reinvent your self at any time. Don’t be limited by your fears, in fact if its not scary its not challenging you. So many people fear failure, but this is where we learn.

Any other notes you might wish to have mentioned….
