At Hervey Bay Neighbourhood Centre, we believe every child deserves to grow up feeling safe, valued, included and connected. While parents, carers and educators play an important role in supporting children, creating positive childhoods is something our whole community can contribute to.
As Queensland Children’s Week approaches, we’re inviting the Fraser Coast community to come together for the Kid’s Kindness Village, a free, family-friendly event celebrating children, their rights and the important role we all play in helping them thrive.
Friday, September 11, 2026 | 10am–2pm
Hervey Bay Community Centre, 22 Charles Street, Pialba
Head to our website to find out more.
At the heart of the event will be a colourful village of interactive cubby houses, each inspired by one of the four guiding principles of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.
We All Belong: Every child has the right to be included.
We Can Grow: Children’s wellbeing should be at the heart of every decision.
We Stay Safe: Every child deserves to grow up in a safe and supportive environment.
We Have a Voice: Children have the right to express their thoughts and be heard.
Children can paint, decorate and explore the village, discovering these important ideas through creativity, play and connection.
For parents, carers and other community members, the Child Safe Parents Lounge will offer a welcoming space to learn more about child safety. Visitors can explore practical information about the Queensland Child Safe Standards and National Principles for Child Safe Organisations, as well as simple resources to help continue conversations about safety and wellbeing at home.
There will also be an opportunity for everyone to add their handprint or signature to the Community Kindness Pledge, a small but meaningful way to show our collective commitment to creating a community where every child feels safe, respected and heard.
Strong communities are built when everyone plays a part. When we create spaces where children can belong, have a voice and feel supported, we help build a community where every child has the opportunity to flourish.
We invite families, neighbours and community members of all ages to join us on September 11. Come along, get creative and be part of building a kinder Fraser Coast, one child, one family and one act of kindness at a time.
